Deus Cyclewine - Cantine Ariola

Deus Cyclewine - Cantine Ariola
The third edition of Deus Cyclewine dived into the Lambrusco of the food valley, between the vineyards of Cantine Ariola - world famous for the best sparkling red wine. Registrations, a first drink, a guided visit to the bottling chain of the famous Lambrusco Marcello and here we are, all ready for the ride, to the hills and beyond. Some with old bikes, some with gravel bikes and other with unusual bikes promising a courageous ride. With a lot of determination and many expletives, all the participants succeeded in reaching the unique APEritivo spot at the belvedere of Langhirano, where The Ganzo was waiting for us. The first 10km were a little tough but afterwards there were only descents, wine, food and a lot of relaxing under the shadow of Tannico’s Double Decker. With the open planes behind us and the hills ahead, we ride around the majestic castle of Torrechiara, making our way through fallow fields, old cottages, and endless vineyards. A certain style wasn’t missing, essential in every Cyclewine: from the elegant wool vintage jersey to the eccentric bike customized with an alcoholic V12, many characters and vehicles (such as you could only find here) took part in the ride. Thanks to The Ganzo and to the Volkswagen fleet all the exhausted participants - some lazy, some with real mechanical problems – were collected along the track. Then to give credit where credit is due, the ones that didn’t succeed with the pedals, do so amazingly with the fork. Now, we have no idea what to call our meal which started at 3:30 PM and ended at 7:30 PM, but it was marvelous to finish the ride and enjoy our well-deserved siesta. In the time between a slice of prosciutto, a tortello and a glass of wine, there were some who tried the special stage facing the stopwatch and the merciless climb through the vineyard. In the end, the podium was taken by an Australian, followed by two Bolognese riders maintaining the honor of the Emilian house, but above all Marcello (the wine) reaffirmed himself as the real winner.
